How to Clean Your Jacuzzi Tub
Apr 27, 2023A Jacuzzi® tub can be an excellent addition to any home, providing a luxurious and relaxing bathing experience. However, like any other household item, it needs to be cleaned regularly to maintain its appearance and functionality. The good news is that the cleaning process isn’t as laborious and time-consuming as you may think. With a little scheduled care, you can easily keep your Jacuzzi tub in tip-top shape for years to come.
Jacuzzi makes both standard and jetted tubs. For this discussion, we’ll be focusing primarily on the care of jetted models since those require more steps during the cleaning process. However, the basin-cleaning tips for jetted models also apply to their standard counterparts, so no matter what type of Jacuzzi tub you have, you’ll be able to use what you learn here to care for your bathing space.
Step One
The first step in cleaning your Jacuzzi tub is to drain the water completely. Then, use a clean cloth or sponge to wipe down the sides of the basin, removing any visible dirt or debris. Next, fill the tub with warm water to two inches above the highest jet and add a cup of dish soap or a specialized Jacuzzi cleaning solution. Turn on the jets and let them run for 15-20 minutes, allowing the cleaning solution to circulate throughout the system.
During the cleaning cycle, pay attention to the bubbles produced by the jets. If they are frothy or have a lot of suds, this indicates that there is still soap or cleaning solution in the water. You may need to drain and refill the tub with clean water and restart the jets. Repeat this process until the bubbles disappear, ensuring that all the soap and cleaning solution has been removed.
Step Two
After the cleaning cycle is complete, drain the water. Every jet has a housing that unscrews easily. We suggest removing each and cleaning those with soap and water. You can even soak them in bleach or dishwashing detergent for 10 minutes. While they’re soaking, take an old toothbrush and scrub out the inside of the jet vent with soap. This isn’t something you’ll need to do with every cleaning. Once every three or four months should be enough to keep mold and mildew in check.
After the jet housings have been replaced, fill the tub and run the jets one final time for 10-15 minutes to remove any debris that may have been loosened during the cleaning process. Finally, drain the water completely and use a clean cloth or sponge to wipe down the sides of the tub.
To prevent the build-up of dirt and residue in your Jacuzzi tub, it’s important to clean it regularly. We suggest a wipe-down every two to three weeks. Thankfully, Jacuzzi tubs are made from durable, easy-to-clean acrylic, so whether you have a standard or jetted model, you’ll never need to use harsh cleansers or laborious scrubbing!
For Whirlpool Tubs
Another critical aspect of Jacuzzi whirlpool tub maintenance is proper filtration. The filter in your Jacuzzi whirlpool tub is designed to remove debris and particles from the water, keeping it clean and clear. However, over time the filter can become clogged with dirt and other particles, reducing its effectiveness. To prevent this, it’s essential to clean the filter regularly. This can be done by removing and rinsing it with clean water. If the filter is particularly dirty, you may want to soak it in a specialized Jacuzzi filter cleaner to remove any stubborn build-up.
When cleaning the filter, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate filter media. Avoid using abrasives or harsh cleaning agents, and only use a soft brush or sponge to remove any dirt or debris. Additionally, you should replace the filter once a year to ensure optimal filtration and prevent the build-up of harmful bacteria.
